It's In The Bag Christmas Appeal seeks donations of handbags filled with hygiene products and small treats.
Border Share the Dignity volunteer Rebecca O'Brien said it was the fifth year the charity had run the Christmas campaign.
She said they hoped to get their biggest response yet.
"We've been blown away by the support this collection receives each and every year, and we'd love the communities' support to show these women and girls that they are in our thoughts this Christmas," she said.
"We want to give local women and girls doing it tough over the holiday period a reason to smile and feel cared for, as well as restoring some of their dignity by providing them with handbags filled with essential hygiene products, as well as a few extra little treats."
MORE COMMUNITY NEWS:
People are asked to donate a handbag in good, used condition, filled with essential items such as sanitary pads, tampons, deodorant, roll on deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner and soap and little luxuries such as lip balm, new socks or a magazine.
People who donate bags are encouraged to pop a thoughtful note into the bag.
Bags can be dropped off at Bunnings stores until December 7.
Border Share the Dignity volunteers will distribute them to shelters and charities in time for Christmas.
Border beneficiaries include Westside Community Centre, Betty's Place, Yes Unlimited, CareVan, Centrecare and St Matthew's Mothers Union.
