Transport for NSW will reduce the speed from December 2 stating "safety concerns" as the main reason.
South west director Lindsay Tanner said they did a review of the speed limits on Wagga Road at the request of Albury Local Traffic Committee, bus operators and the community.

"The review recommended a reduction to an existing speed limit in response to safety concerns about increased residential development and access to a large industrial site," he said.
"The 100 km/h speed zone on Wagga Road in Albury will be reduced to 80 km/h between Kaitlers and Gerogery roads for a distance of two kilometres.
"This new speed zone will provide a safer road for all road users with minimal impact to travel times."
Signs will be in place to advise drivers of the changed traffic conditions.
Road users are asked to keep an eye out for the changes and follow the directions of signs.
