The next generation mobile network is now online in large parts of Albury-Wodonga, with 5G services switched on in stages over the past week.
Telstra has been building the 5G network in recent months and testing the service, and will formally announce the successful implementation on Tuesday.
Testing yesterday showed peak download speeds of 728 megabits per second.
Customers will need 5G capable devices and 5G plans to use the service.
