In a statement V/Line advised residents on the Seymour, Shepparton and Albury lines to allow an extra 60 minutes for journeys as all trains on the lines would be replaced by a mix of express and stopping-all-stations coach services.
"We will do everything possible to minimise the impact of the industrial action, to help our passengers get where they need to go during the festive season," V/Line said.
"We will ensure passengers are given as much notice as possible of service changes."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Earlier this month, the Rail Tram and Bus Union announced industrial action would take place across eight days. 24 line stoppages have already taken place on the Bendigo, Swan Hill lines, Ararat, Maryborough, Ballarat, Traralgon, Bairnsdale lines.
On Facebook the union issued a statement saying "members pride themselves on moving commuters from A to B", but were taking action to demand fairer treatment and a better resourced regional network.
Freight trains and other services will still operate during planned industrial action.
