But for former Upper Murray boy Alo Baker his trips around the world with two mates has become a job.
Aussie Dreamlivers Texas is the second installment by Mr Baker, Jonny Hibbard and Gimli McGloin and has been picked up by Channel 7 to be aired on 7mate.
The first season which followed the men across Alaska all started because they thought it was the road less traveled.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We were backpacking across north America and we kept having people tell us how amazing Alaska was," Mr Baker told The Border Mail.
"But noone really goes there so we decided to do the trip, we filmed everything and somehow convinced TV to run it."
The original season was aired on Foxtel and Mr Baker said the second season is "just as crazy".
"It is really just a bunch of mates doing silly things like I got to crush a car with a monster truck, we did plenty of food challenges and made an arrest during our police ride along," he said.
Mr Baker started his career in Albury at Star FM, now called Hit 104.9, and said he still calls the Border home.
"Texas is very different to walking down Dean Street or going to the Lavington shops," he said.
"It might look like a holiday but we filmed for three weeks straight and now it will air basically six weeks after we got back.
"It is a pretty crazy turn around but a pretty cool project I got to do with my mates."
Mr Baker's parents still live on the farm in Corryong.
"My wife's family is up here in Dubbo where we are living at the moment. I travel around a fair bit for work so it is nice to come home as much as I can."
Aussie Dreamlivers Texas airs on December 28 on 7mate.
