Archdeacon Clarence Bester has been elected to follow the retiring Bishop John Parkes, with his consecration to take place in Melbourne on February 22 before he is installed as bishop in Wangaratta the next day.
Presently archdeacon of Wangaratta (ministry development) and parish vicar of Wangaratta West and the Warbys, the bishop elect began ordained ministry in the Cape Town diocese.

He also worked in the diocese of Europe and came to the parish of Shepparton in 2015. Wangaratta diocese covers the North East and Albury.
Archdeacon Bester said he felt humbled to be elected to serve as bishop.
"My experience here is that we have great potential for redefining and redeveloping the ministry of the diocese of Wangaratta," he said.
