Albury Council this month accepted the tender from Centrum Architects for the amount of $234,825.25 for what is shaping as the biggest sporting facility upgrade in the city after the Lavington Sportsground redevelopment which is due for completion in August.
Six companies bid for the detailed design works contract with only one border-based firm bidding, JWP Architects in Wodonga.
The Shepparton Sports and Events Centre redevelopment was a similar project to Lauren Jackson Sports Centre performed by Centrum Architects.
Creating a showcourt with a seating capacity of up to 1400 people with retractable seating to protect the playing surfaces and allow for the staging of conferences and other events and upgraded changerooms are some of the major elements of the Albury project
Stage one works have been estimated to cost more than $4 million.
