Mr Spriggs said he spoke to Mr McPaul's mother Christine and had her blessing for the fundraising.
"It's my way of helping a family through a tough time," Mr Spriggs said, noting no funds will pass through him.
He previously established a GoFundMe page which has raised around $380,000 for RFS volunteers Geoffrey Keaton, 32, and Andrew O'Dwyer, 36, who died last month.
