So far the temperature has reached 46.1, recorded at 2.43pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology said temperatures would peak between 2pm and 3.30pm this afternoon and storms were possible in the northern Riverina this afternoon.
Gusts of 59 kilometres per hour have been recorded in Albury already, with the wind expected to pick up this afternoon.
