Border softball rising star Cameron Jones punched well above his weight at the recent under-16 boys national championships at Waverley softball complex in Melbourne.

Jones, who is only 14, represented the under-16 Victorian boys team and didn't look out of place.
The young talent played as a catcher and at third base throughout the tournament.

After the pool phase matches, Victoria finished third, beating Western Australia in the semi-finals to continue through to the preliminary final under lights against NSW.
Victoria again prevailed in a hard-fought game, 9-6, to progress to the grand final against Queensland.
The game started well with both sides fielding well and keeping runs to a minimum, before Queensland pulled away to win 10-2 in the seventh innings.
Fellow Border product Joanna Garoni is heading to the under-18 girls national championships in Sydney next week.
