With the home team needing only 20 runs with five wickets in hand, the Bushies hit back superbly by taking 5-12 much to the delight of skipper Matt Armstrong.
"It was nice," Armstrong said.
"We have had a tough time of it with the fires and everything that has been going on.
"A lot of guys have been in harms way.
"We've lost our ground and it's been a bit disjointed since Christmas so it was nice to get a win on the board and put a smile on peoples' faces."
Medium-pacer Matt Oswell led the late fightback by taking 3-34 while Armstrong bowled tightly and grabbed the prized wicket of Neil Smith for 95.
Smith has been a tower of strength for the Patties all season with 553 runs, but the support cast was again limited with Matt Crawshaw (43) and Luke Restall (31) the exceptions.
"It was a good fightback," Armstrong said.
"We got a bit of momentum going our way.
"The guys bowled full and straight and mixed their pace up nicely."
Tallangatta's innings of 7-248 was based around a fine 80 from young opener Ollie Willett while Phil Neville (40), Fraser Ellis (34 not out) and Sahib Malhotra (33) also hit the scoreboard.
It was Willett's third half-century of the season.
"It's the fastest wicket I have played on for a long time," Armstrong said.
"Ollie played really well.
"He turned the strike over and did a great job.
"We will try and hang in there and, if you can win half of your games, then you are a chance of making finals."
Star Albury recruit Innocent Kaia led the side to an eight-wicket victory against East Albury at Alexandra Park.
Kaia looked a class above as he made a chanceless 109 off 125 deliveries to keep the success-starved club firmly in the mix for finals action.
He and Alex Popko (64) put on 174 for the opening partnership as Albury easily chased down the Crows' score of 223 with 25 balls to spare.
"It was a really good run chase," coach Luke Styles said.
"Innocent Kaia is just a class act and Alex Popko played a great supporting role.
"We're in the mix which is great for the club."
