Being the only trial for both clubs ahead of next week's opening round, the Brumbies and Rebels will bring full strength squads to the Border in a bid to finalise starting lineups.
McKellar wants to get at least 40 minutes into most players to prepare them for the Queensland Reds on January 31.
"We played an internal scrimmage last Friday which was certainly beneficial, but it will be nice to get a good hit-out against a strong Rebels team," he said.
"The reality is we haven't played our best against them in recent years, but we won't be focusing too much on that.

"We'll look to put a performance in that mirrors the hard work we've done over the last eight weeks to help get us ready for that round one fixture.
"There's spots up for grabs in the team, so there's the selection side of things as well.
"We want to build combinations and it's an opportunity to see players playing at this level for the first time and see how they go."
McKellar has previously been to Albury during his seven years at the club and is excited to be back.
"We've got to promote the game and share it around the country areas to make sure people are getting exposure to Super Rugby and rugby union. It's part of out role as ambassadors for the game," he added.
The two trials kick off at 3.45pm and 6.15pm.
