Alex Brian McLeod has been jailed for the NSW offending, which was followed by a large scale search operation in Wodonga after he allegedly crashed into two vehicles.
The 43-year-old was wanted for breaching NSW parole during the incidents on October 21 last year.
His behaviour while driving on Ebden Street in South Albury alerted police that something was amiss.
He had glanced at officers as he drove past their parked car, and quickly turned away, looked straight ahead, and quickly accelerated.
The Lockhart man's unregistered white Mitsubishi Lancer sped towards Townsend Street, drove over a shrub and overtook a truck.
"(The car) crossed onto the incorrect side of the roadway, driving at a silver four-wheel-drive, (which) was forced to take evasive action by pulling to the side of the roadway to avoid a head-on collision," police recently told Albury Local Court.
Police closed the gap with the car at Wodonga Place and activated their lights.
Two other vehicles had to brake to avoid hitting the Mitsubishi, which drove through a red light.

McLeod ignored directions to stop and was travelling at 100km/h in a 60km/h zone when police called off the chase.
It's alleged McLeod crashed into a white van and a car on the causeway a short time later, and fled the scene with a woman.
The Victoria Police air wing and dog squad were called to the area, but McLeod had escaped.
NSW officers arrested him inside units at Olive Street the following day after receiving information he was staying there.
He had been hiding inside the brick building, but came out after five to 10 minutes of negotiations.
The 43-year-old was handcuffed, arrested, cautioned, and taken to the police station.
He refused to leave the dock at the station and said his DNA would on the car's steering wheel and gear stick.
McLeod also said his property was inside the car, but denied being in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The court heard Mcleod's NSW licence had been disqualified for 14 years from November 2012 to November 2026.
Further suspensions were imposed in court.
McLeod was jailed for a minimum 10 months, with a 15-month maximum.
He will be eligible for parole in August and is yet to face court in Victoria.
