St Anne's principal Bede Hart said he'd never seen a year level with four sets of twins.
"I've seen a lot of schools and a lot of years and we've never had as many in the same year level," he said.
"It's great to see them here, the families are excited, the children are excited."
Teacher Anna Heta said there were a lot of big smiles on excited faces during the first day at school.
"It's made easier for twins, they've got someone special with them, a special friend at school," she said.
Mr Hart said the school hosted a morning tea for new parents at a cafe to help with the separation and help people meet other families.
