The Thurgoona man, 43, was found by a passing motorist about eight kilometres from Albury about 9.30am on Saturday.
He remains in a serious but stable condition with head and facial injuries, after being taken out of an induced coma at The Alfred hospital in Melbourne yesterday.
Insp Tony Moodie, of Albury police, said it was not known how the cyclist came to be injured but at this stage it was not thought to be suspicious.
