There's a special flock at Albury who are baking up a storm to support local fire brigades and wildlife organisations.
From licorice allsort slice to lemon cakes and every delectable delight in between, Purple Chicken participants have been busy in the kitchen ahead of their fire fundraiser cake stall on Sunday, February 23 from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
The sweet offerings will be available at the City Central Church at 445 David Street, Albury and all proceeds will be donated to West Wodonga CFA, Jindera RFS, and a local native animal rescue group, according to Purple Chicken creator Jen Tait.
The 20 members of the cafe program, designed to equip young people with a disability with the skills to find work in hospitality, have been spreading their wings in recent months as they prepare to officially open for business.
Ms Tait also revealed four Purple Chickens had secured interviews for prospective jobs this week - "a brilliant outcome".
"The fabulous employers are allowing us to support the young people through the interview process, and to provide ongoing support towards successful outcomes (whatever that success looks like for each individual)," she said.
