The new system will be installed around the course proper and sand track and includes above-ground sprinklers, a control system and new pump shed.
Not only will it save water but also free track staff for other duties with watering the track previously a labour intensive exercise.

Trainers will still be able to utilise the grass track before 9am while the irrigation system is installed.
Club president Kevin Richardson said the new system would enable track staff to maintain the surface which is regarded the equal of any in country Victoria.
"We thank the Victorian Government for supporting the upgrade," Richardson said.
"Having the irrigation system puts us in a strong position to make future race days bigger and better."
Wodonga stages eight meetings including its cup in November.
