The 22-year-old had a stellar finish to his second season in the Super 2 series, winning races at the last two rounds at Sandown and Newcastle.
Earlier he had struggled to find peace with his 450kw V8 Commodore.
But some help from engineers from main game Supercar team Erebus Motorsport assisted Boys' Image Racing team to settle his down car and the talented Boys did the rest.
Boys has re-signed with Image Racing for 2020 but will have a new teammate, Will Brown.
Brown is highly rated to win the series and has already been signed by Erebus for a main game drive in 2021
He will also be David Reynolds' co-driver at Bathurst this year.
"I view having Will as my teammate as a positive. For me its being put up against the guy that people believe in enough to give him a drive up in the main series, so I don't see how I can really look back," he said.
"If I match him, I'm going to look even better, so it has put me in a position to be able to really prove myself.
"Having a teammate who is experienced and highly rated gives a good opportunity to learn off him too, but hopefully I'm able to show everyone what I'm capable of."
Coming into the first event for the year this weekend at Adelaide, Boys is feeling confident of getting his season off to a good start.
"We are a lot better prepared this year with what we've got together with our program," he said.
