Following Kelly Park hosting this year's County Week tennis, works to the surface will now commence, but an exact completion date is yet to be confirmed.
"Irrigation works will commence this week and it is intended for the playing surface to be available later this season, subject to weather," Wodonga Council Manager Sport and Recreation Liona Edwards
"The council continues to work with stakeholders to confirm the final design and timelines for the pavilion upgrade."

Wodonga Heart plays 10 of its first 12 games at home at Willow Park, which could potentially free the venue up for the Wanderers in the second half of the season.
"We're pencilled in away from home for the first half of the year and we'll play the rest by ear as we go through," Twin City coach Shaun Wilhelm said.
"All the clubs will know when it comes to the second half of the year whether we can use our ground or not.
"We're training at Willow Park up until the ground is available.
"We can get back on our ground in six to eight weeks time, but we won't have anywhere to shower or stuff like that."
If the club can't get back on Kelly Park after the Queen's Birthday bye, Wilhelm is hopeful they won't have to double up with travel to Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Cobram.
"We don't mind if we have to go to certain clubs twice, we just hope we don't have to do the long trips twice," Wilhelm said.
"We usually play the first five games away anyway because of cricket (with Belvoir) and the resurfacing of the ground."
