Originally from Dubbo, Elliott played with the Murray Cup side last year and is looking forward to building on last season's preliminary final result.
"It's good to get the opportunity to coach," the Walbundrie shearer said.
"I'm passionate about it.
"We weren't far away last season and hopefully we can find that extra 10 per cent.
"The season isn't far away."
Elliott said he planned to bring some fresh training ideas from his Australian rules background after playing with Hume league club Rand-Walbundrie-Walla in recent years.
Eight clubs are set to compete with defending champion Tumbarumba shaping as the team to beat.
The Green Machine took out the men and women's competition last season.
Corowa is also set to be formidable.
The competition starts on May 3.
