The Wangaratta-based MP this week asked Attorney-General Jill Hennessy what the state government was doing to proactively target child pornography offenders.
"Sadly, child pornography offenders have become an increasingly challenging and problematic part of Victoria's criminal population, with the state currently facing, in Chief Commissioner of Police Graham Ashton's words, a tidal wave of violent child pornography activity," she said.
Ms Maxwell called for sentencing that reflects community expectations and the gravity of the crimes, and crime data specific to child pornography to be made publicly available.
