He tied with major winner Dustin Johnson for 48th.
Murray wasn't the only player to fire over par with overnight leader Justin Thomas shooting 73.
US Masters champion Patrick Reed (18-under) claimed a thrilling one-shot win over countryman Bryson DeChambeau.

Although Murray had a tough day, he will take enormous confidence from matching the world's best for long periods.
The 22-year-old had successive rounds of two-under par 69 in the middle days and was one of only two players outside the world's top 100 to feature in the top 15 heading into the final round in Mexico City.
The event is the biggest and most lucrative of the Border export's career after only turning professional in November, 2018.
