Cox was tragically killed in October in a truck crash in the Upper Murray which left the racing industry in shock.
In a one-off tribute, the $50,000 feature on the first day of the carnival will be renamed the Brian Cox Memorial Albury Mile.

Albury Racing Club in conjunction with Baxters Concrete decided on the gesture after consultation with Cox's wife, Janet.
Cox was an employee of Baxters Concrete at the time of his accident.
ARC chief Steve Hetherton said the club wanted to acknowledge Cox's achievements as a trainer and his support over many decades.
"Brian is regarded as one of the great horsemen to train on the Border," Hetherton said.
"Brian trained many winners at Albury including the Albury Gold Cup on three occasions.
"The Baxter family and the club thought it would be a fitting gesture to recognise Brian's achievements and rename a race in his honour."
Cox won his first Albury Cup with Lucky Enough in 1999.
The Cox-trained Ekalaka also won the Albury feature on two occasions in 2000 and 2002.
Baxters Concrete have also been a long-time supporter of the Albury Racing Club.
Stephen Baxter served 13 years on the committee before he lost a long-running battle with cancer in 2013.
Both families were well acquainted for decades.
The two-day Albury Gold Cup carnival commences on March 19.
