WODONGA Council has been one of the biggest beneficiaries from another tranche of Victorian Government funding to assist the bushfire recovery effort with $2.6 million to be spent on gas gate connections at Logic which could trigger increased investment at the industrial estate.

Investment in a gas gate at Logic has been a high priority for council for several years with $1 million set aside in this year's budget, but the state government funding has taken the $5.5 million project towards fruition.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced the funding as part of an overall $10 million package of works which also included $2 million to be spend on rebuilding the camping ground at the Buchan Caves in one of the worst hit areas of East Gippsland and $500,000 for upgrades to the Colac Colac caravan park near Corryong.
The gas gate funding also strengthens the possibility of Barnawartha being connected to natural gas.
"It will allow the precinct to tap into the main gas line which runs through Logic and provide high-pressure, consistent gas for industry that requires it," Wodonga chief executive Mark Dixon said.
"The council has received consistent inquiries over the years from business requiring this infrastructure.
"Some of the potential industry we could now see on the site could include food production, waste to energy technology, pharmaceutical, chemical and materials manufacturing industries."

Towong Shire will fast-track a master-plan for the Colac Colac caravan park in response to the $500,000 funding injection.
An upgraded amenities block and updated services are priorities for the popular park.
"It's a very important facility up here in the Upper Murray," Towong mayor David Wortmann said.
"We were going to do some minor things, but this might help us tackle some of the bigger priorities."
The upcoming Man From Snowy River Bush Festival provides the park with some of its highest patronage.
The $10 million fund could create 260 jobs and unlock over $120 million in private investment.
"These projects will drive visitors to East Gippsland and North East Victoria, boosting business and supporting jobs," Mr Andrews said.
"We're providing the practical, on-the-ground support bushfire-affected communities need to recover and rebuild."
