Ovens and Murray District Swimming Association board member Sally Whitehouse has been acknowledged for her years of dedication with a Victorian Sport Award.

The long-time Border swimming official was crowned Community Official of the Year on Wednesday night, emerging from a field of four finalists.
Whitehouse was unable to attend the awards night at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium, and after some technical difficulties watching the live stream, said she found out she had won through text messages.
Happy, excited and overwhelmed is how Whitehouse described her reaction.

"I was shocked to have been nominated," she said.
"Then to find out I was a finalist in it I thought wow, and then to actually win it, oh my gosh.
"It's nice to have been recognised, because that's not why we do this.
"For someone to actually take the time to put my name forward and recognise the work I have done is a lovely feeling."
Whitehouse added it's the first time she had ever been nominated for such an award, officiating at state and national levels.
