After hundreds of nominations from across the country, the AWFA has made it to the top four of the Clubbies 2020 Best Sports Association Award.

President Mark Leman paid tribute to executive committee for the hard work it has put in to get to this stage.

"The AWFA brand is more visual than it's ever been and we're trying to encourage more people to come along," Leman said.

"We've got growth in miniroos and all abilities, as well as more awareness about female participation and we're working hard to grow that in our sport.

"What AWFA has brought to the community in terms of events the past few years, such as branch championships, Vic Country championships and this year we also hope to bring the Country Cup, seeing all regional associations come to our area.

"It will be a good feather in the cap if we were to win and will put us on the map as an association."

AWFA was nominated by member club Melrose.

Voting closes on March 11.

Meanwhile, the association has filled its vacancy on the executive with Belinda Westerlo appointed head of business operations.

"She comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience and is passionate about communication and promoting the AWFA and all of its clubs," Leman added.
