In a statement the service said catchments were relatively dry across the flood watch area and parts of the Ovens, Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta catchments have been affected by fires so rivers could rise more rapidly in these areas.
The service said based on weather forecasts by the Bureau of Meteorology they believe the Murray River in Jingellic, the Tooma River (Pinegrove) and the Swampy Plain River could experience flooding, as could the areas in and around Jingellic, Horse, Cowper, Coppabella, Stockyard, Seven Mile, Spring Flat and Spring Creeks.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Rainfall will develop across the flood watch area during Wednesday and continue during the evening and overnight into Thursday before clearing to the east later Thursday evening," SES NSW warned.
"Two-day rainfall totals of around 60mm to 120 mm are forecast with isolated higher totals possible.
"With the forecast rainfall, river rises are likely and minor flooding may develop across the flood watch area from Thursday morning."
The service asked residents to monitor weather forecasts and warnings.
