The $1.5 billion relocation was this week the subject of the first question time inquiry put to Mr Clancy since his election to the government benches last year.
A Labor Opposition member asked Mr Clancy, as chairman of a parliamentary committee looking at drought-hit areas, "does it support the Premier's plans to spend $1.5 billion relocating the Powerhouse Museum instead of on drought relief?".
Mr Clancy replied to the question put on Thursday by suggesting it trivialised drought support before claiming "that members on this side of the chamber are the powerhouse and that the museum is on the other side of the chamber".
Asked on Friday by The Border Mail whether he supports the Powerhouse shifting from Ultimo to Parramatta, Mr Clancy did not say, stating "I respect the decision".
"Am I happy with it? The government needs to make decisions about facilities as far as the city of Sydney is concerned and there will always be debate as to infrastructure," he said.
NSW Nationals leader John Barilaro this week was reported to have disapproved of spending $1.5 billion to shift the museum.
Asked about the leader of the Coalition's junior partner's views, Albury's Liberal member hinted such criticism should not be public.
"John has got an opportunity to debate that in cabinet and I respect his opportunity to do so," Mr Clancy said.
Meanwhile, Mr Clancy's drought-related inquiry is due to report its findings in the middle of the year.
It has taken evidence at Orange, with further hearings at Yass and Armidale to get feedback on the big dry and its impact and what measures may assist those in recovering.
