Despite not quite getting the results he wanted at the first round of the championship in Adelaide two weeks ago, the 24-year-old showed he will be a contender for top ten finishes in his maiden year with the team.
"I thought Todd did a really good job," Team boss Brad Jones said.
"We had a few issues in qualifying for race one, but he made up 10 places to finish 13th and that's a huge achievement in this game.

"He's fitted in really well and the guys are impressed with how he goes about his racing - we couldn't be happier really."
Hazelwood himself had similar sentiments about his first BJR outing,
"I was with the same team for six years so it's all very new to me, but everyone has been really welcoming and I feel like I've slotted in pretty well," Hazelwood said.
"There's no doubt the car is a bit different to what I was driving but I like it.
"It will take a bit of time behind the wheel to get truly comfortable so I'm looking forward to all the track time I'll get this weekend at the Grand Prix."

Supercars have four championship races over the Melbourne Grand Prix weekend.
BJR cars have traditionally been suited to the fast, flowing 5.3-kilometre Albert Park track, which is a stark difference to the streets of Adelaide, with an average speed of around 165km/h.
Tim Slade and Nick Percat picked up six top ten results between them over the weekend last year.
"We are normally pretty competitive there," Jones said.
"But this year is a bit different with the new suspension all the cars have to run.
"Based on our pace in Adelaide, I'm confident that we should be up with the front runners.
"It's a different track for our series because it's so wide, cars can run door handle to door handle for two or three corners, so the racing is great to watch, but it can also go wrong in a big way when they touch.
"Hopefully our boys will stay out of trouble and we'll bring home some points for the championship."
Percat will bring up his 200th race in the Supercars Championship this weekend and will carry the iconic black and yellow Dunlop livery into the event.
The second race of the event on Saturday will bring up the double century for Percat, having made his debut at Phillip Island in 2010 for Walkinshaw Racing.
Since then, the 31-year-old has claimed two victories, the highlight being the 2011 Bathurst 1000 with Garth Tander, before experiencing solo success in his home state at the Adelaide 500 in 2016.
Albert Park is the site of his last two podiums, both clinched in the 2018 event.
"It's a very long and fast track with a lot of tyre deg so the challenge is bringing it all together to get a great lap in. I'm keen to get out there and put on a great show," Percat told Supercars.
The first of four 20-lap races is on Friday, with the last one being the curtain raiser to the 2020 Australian Grand Prix on Sunday.
