The recommended cancellation of all non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people, announced by Scott Morrison on Friday, does not extend to schools, TAFEs or Universities.
The Border institutions will carry on as usual.
Kevin Lawlor, of the Catholic Education Office's Sandhurst diocese, said schools were open and operating as usual but overseas excursions had been cancelled or postponed.

The Sandhurst diocese covers Catholic schools in northern Victoria including Wangaratta and Wodonga.
Mr Lawlor said the office was monitoring information from the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria, the Education Department and the Department of Health and Human Service.
Mr Lawlor said aside from ensuring people observed hygiene precautions, everything was operating normally.
He said if the state or federal government decide to close state schools, they will follow suit and recommend the closure of Catholic schools in the region.
"Our advice will be consistent with what the department recommends," he said.
"If the department or government recommends schools close we'd follow the lead."
The Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga, which includes Albury schools, did not respond to requests for comment.
Catholic Schools NSW advised schools and parents that the "current advice is that mass school closures are unlikely".
The Victoria Education Department said decisions about school closures would be made on the recommendation Victoria's Chief Health Officer.
