Ryan bred Military Rose who started favourite in the world's richest juvenile race in 2010 before finishing midfield.
A decade later Ryan is set to have another Golden Slipper runner in Mildred.
Mildred is out of his broodmare Tempest Tost and is trained at Caulfield by Grahame Begg.
It's a bittersweet feeling for Ryan who recently sold Tempest Tost after her previous foals proved to be of average ability.
"Unfortunately I sold the dam," Ryan said.
"Tempest Tost won the 3YO Magic Millions in 2009 on the Gold Coast.
"I joined her with a few high-profile stallions including Encosta Da Lago, Fastnet Rock, Pierro and Sebring.
"Her foals won a couple of races but nothing of note.
"So I had to decide whether to hang onto her as a broodmare and risk getting nothing or sell her while she was still worth something.
"The last foal she had was Mildred who was by Hinchinbrook and now she is in the Golden Slipper.
"But that's breeding."
Mildred is quoted as a $61-chance in the Golden Slipper and will be partnered by Jordan Childs.
Ryan said the filly could run a cheeky race after finishing third in the Reisling Stakes at her most recent run.
