Border and North East athletes will have to wait until at least May to compete, with Athletics Australia announcing the postponement of all competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cancellations includes all local and state cross-country, as well as track, field and road events.
At this stage events are scheduled to recommence on May 1, with Athletics Australia continuing to take guidance from state and national health authorities.

Clubs across the region are being advised to exercise the appropriate hygiene measures and practice social distancing if training.
"While athletics is a non-contact sport there are considerable measures that need to be in place to adhere to expert advice around reducing the risk of spreading the virus," Athletics Australia chief officer Darren Gocher said.
"We focused specifically on minimising the risk and impact on the athletics communities that we support, as well as their families."
