The Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre (AWEC) has closed its facility to members until further notice as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday the committee announced the facility, situated off Roberts Road, Thurgoona, would be shut down to protect agistees and staff and to comply with NSW Government Health Orders.
In a statement issued to members, the committee said it had been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and was acting in accordance with state and federal government directives prohibiting all non-essential travel.
"AWEC is closed until further notice - this includes visits by health practitioners, saddle fitters and farriers," the notice read.
"Members who have horses agisted at the centre may still visit as required for the care of their horses but must adhere to government guidelines regarding social distancing and group gatherings."
The committee, which is strictly monitoring compliance, expressed its sincere regrets but insisted the focus was on keeping AWEC maintained "so that when restrictions are lifted, we can all enjoy our centre once again".
The centre closed stabling and camping facilities as a response to the pandemic on March 27 and had previously stopped rallies, events and group equestrian activities.
Earlier in the year the association was recognised for its outstanding community connection when it was awarded Community Group of the Year 2020 by Albury Council.
