"Just the way the race and track played, the leaders were very, very hard to run down, I'm not disappointed in the horse, I probably thought more could have gone our way," he said.
Beer will now look north as the coronavirus means he can't travel across the Border and must have any runner in a fellow trainer's Victorian base for a full day before any race.
"It's now near impossible, you have to use commercial transport, you're looking at nearly $2000, as opposed to a couple of hundred dollars for fuel," he said.

Beer will now target the $150,000 Tamworth Cup (1400m) with Hanger on April 26.
"Who would have dreamt a month ago that it would be easier to take a horse to Tamworth (818kms) than Caulfield (340)?," he laughed.
