That is more than eight loved ones a day.
And in a time of isolation due to the COVID-19 health crisis, now more than ever Australians are being asked to look after their mental health.
Youth mental health organisations around the country, including headspace, are encouraging everyone to join The Push-Up Challenge.
The aim of the challenge is simple - complete 3046 push-ups over 21 days.
That is 3046 push-ups for 3046 lives lost.
Albury- Wodonga headspace community development worker Bree Cross said the challenge isn't just about raising awareness for mental health services.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Take part in The Push-Up Challenge and join us in connecting people, supporting better mental health, promoting fitness and most importantly, having fun," she said.
"As your local headspace centre, we provide community-based mental health services for young people aged 12-25.
"We ask if any Border people are taking part and are choosing to fundraise that they please select our local headspace."
The Push-Up Challenge is free, can be done at home and can be done as a team or individually.
The push-up target amount per day varies and can be split between a team.
