It's a rainbow crossing. It's functional and figurative.
People can cross safely at Wollongong's Cliff Rd pedestrian crossing and head to the beach quite safely. Just as they can revel in the inclusiveness of their community if they so wish.
And while the crossing is still entirely functional, Illawarra Mercury photographer Adam McLean's image shows why some people are disappointed.
So much so a petition calling on Wollongong Council to install CCTV cameras to catch hoons creating tyre marks on the rainbow crossing at North Wollongong has been created.
