If restrictions are eased and community sport is given the all clear, AWFA president Mark Leman hopes to extend the season and have NSW take on Victoria the weekend after the cup final.
The showcase wouldn't be exclusively for senior men and women, with Leman also eager to feature junior girls and boys teams.
"We're looking at a couple of details once we get a start date, but the idea at the moment is to run a state of origin after the cup final," Leman said.
"It comes back to the fitness of players and stuff like that, but it's an opportunity the following Saturday to make it a NSW-Victoria state of origin and give everyone an extra week of football.

"It's been on my radar for a couple of years. In the current climate, it would be good if we could get an extra week of football for the community and we're looking into how it could work.
"We want to do something this year if we can and might even get a couple of junior grades as well to make an afternoon and evening of it.
"It will be subject to what the social distancing criteria is at that time (October) in terms of spectators.
"Based on the media around it, it could be quite a popular event, so we need to make sure we're compliant with the restrictions that may or may not be in place."
The biggest challenging facing the AWFA at this time is the difference in restrictions between NSW and Victoria.
"We've got six clubs in each state and we've been talking to our state bodies on both sides as an executive," Leman added.
"We're having meetings with NSW twice a week and Victoria once a week to keep up to date with any changes.
"People need to know we're working hard in the background to get as much information as possible so when we do start, we've got everything in place ready to go.
"We want to make sure both states are exactly the same."
Community football remains postponed by FFA until at least May 31.
