Romero had previously indicated he wished to return to France after the AWFA season came to a grinding halt after just one round due to the worldwide health crisis.
With his visa set to expire midway through April, Romero wasn't keen to renew it for another 12 months with the possibility of no further matches being played.

However, with restrictions beginning to ease in several states across Australia, Romero decided he would wait to find out more about the chance of a resumption.
"I applied for a new visa, but I still don't have an answer, so I'm also waiting for that," Romero said.
"They put me on bridging visa so I'm not in overstay at the moment."
Romero starred for champions Wangaratta last season with more than 30 goals before crossing to the Greens.
