Mathew Peter Carey, 33, of Chifley Street, was yesterday committed for sentence after pleading guilty in Albury Local Court to several charges laid after an incident on July 17 last year.
Magistrate Gordon Lerve ordered a pre-sentence report with Carey to appear in the District Court sittings starting on April 30.
Carey has pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated entry to a building in company, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, two counts of intimidation and assault.
Mr Lerve was told in a report tendered by police that Carey went to his older sister’s residence in Alma Street, Albury on July 16 and spoke to her about a debt to him.
He slapped her face and pulled her hair before a woman at the residence intervened.
The following day Carey went back to the house and demanded entry, saying he wanted his mobile phone, which had been left in his sister’s bedroom.
A short time later Carey was seen with an unknown man outside the house.
Carey went to the front door and the other man to the back where he smashed a glass panel in the door.
Carey and the other man, who had a knife in his back pocket, then entered the house.
Another woman inside managed to escape, but Carey slapped his sister’s face and demanded money owed to him.
He put both hands around her neck and squeezed, causing her to have trouble breathing and leaving bruises.
The other man produced a knife and asked Carey whether he could “cut” his sister.
The victim was on her back on the floor when another man came to her rescue.
The man told Carey that the police were on their way, causing the two attackers to flee.
