Despite winning the cup in late March, the syndicate hadn't been able to get together as a group until last weekend because of social distancing restrictions.
Spunlago caused a boilover in the Albury feature and paid a whopping $58 and $10 the place on the NSW TAB.
Three-time Mitta United premiership coach Phil Packer said Spunlago had proven to be a good money-spinner for his connections.
"We lease Spunlago and have got a 20 per cent share between us," Packer said.
"There is seven of us who are all mates and a few of the guys weren't really in to racing but still got involved.
"I was having a few beers with Dylan O'Neill who was track manager at Wodonga and now Ballarat and he advised me to go in the horse.
"So I rang a few mates and its been a fun ride."

Packer admitted he wasn't confident that Spunlago could land an upset in the $160,000 feature.
"I only had $100 the place on him but it was still a handy collect," he said.
"A few of the boys had $50 each-way so they had a big win."
Spunlago is the best credentialled stayer in the Riverina and has won more than $450,000.
The eight-year-old boasts the consistent record of 13 wins and 10 minor placings from 58 career starts.
"He is the reigning SDRA Horse of the Year and it was also a huge thrill when he won at Flemington as well last year."
