The NSWRL issued a statement on Monday.
"The NSWRL is working towards final confirmation of a return to play of community football later this week," the statement read.
"The NSWRL had expected confirmation from the NSW Government on Monday.
"The NSW Premier, the Hon. Gladys Berejiklian, confirmed .... this morning that she would have an announcement about community sport later this week."
Meanwhile, the Thunder has received a double-barrelled hit in the proposed season draw.
Albury has a tough start against last season's other top five outfits in the first month, but it's the three long away trips in the final month which would be a brutal test.
