A series of factors led to a big hit on playing numbers, with the Wanderers' sole focus now on fielding a reserves side.
The decision was put to a vote amongst the playing group with the majority indicating they would be prefer not to play this year.
Twin City coach Shaun Wilhelm had a feeling prior to the club's first training session back on Tuesday night that it was going to be the case.
"We've got an ageing group and a lot of people with young families and people that have partners working in aged care," he said.
"We're not even going to target getting a senior team, it's now about trying to get numbers for ressies.
"You can't hold a grudge on anyone that doesn't want to play."

The 2020 campaign was already shaping as a difficult one for the Wanderers who had lost a host of experienced players.
Major works have also commenced on the club's home ground, Kelly Park, which meant they were playing the first half of the season away from home with no guarantee the venue would be available for the latter part of the year.
But it's not all doom and gloom, according to Wilhelm.
"Everyone that has indicated they can't play this year will be back next year," he said.
"We'll bounce back bigger and better next year. We're not too stressed about it."
Twin City had six players on the track for its first training run in almost three months, sharing Willow Park with rivals Wodonga Heart.
Despite having limited numbers, Wilhelm can already sense some difficulties for clubs managing the strict COVID-19 training protocols.
"The whole social distancing thing is going to be hard for clubs," he admitted.
"I think the next couple of weeks will be the telling factor of who plays and who doesn't and how they go about it.
"I don't know why they don't just shelve it this year and be done with it. Even if they just played juniors."
"It's coming into June-July where it starts raining and getting cold and you lose numbers for training anyway. To try and get boys motivated when they haven't been training is difficult."
A restart date on the AWFA season is yet to be confirmed.
