Bandiana Primary School principal Donna Wright is one of nine finalists in the Primary School Principal of the Year - Government category of the Australian Education Awards.
Ms Wright has worked at the Bandiana school for more than 10 years and is an advocate of "learning for life".
She has a Master of Education and will complete a Bachelor of Laws this year.
Last year Bandiana Primary School received recognition for its community engagement, careers development for young people, support of gifted and talented students and contribution to the Wakakirri national story dance festival.
Ms Wright said she would be representing the whole school community, not just herself, when attending the Australian Education Awards presentation in November.
"It is a privilege to be a school principal and trusted by so many parents to provide the best education for children at my school," she said.
