Bowls Gr8 for Brains is the brainchild of Lavington bowler and former Queensland Police Sergeant Darryl Coventry, who has found lawn bowls to be a great social opportunity and outlet in his PTSD recovery.
The program started at Lavington Bowling Club to support current and former emergency services personnel, defence personnel, front line medical professionals and emergency service organisation volunteers.

However, with the impact of the bushfires, drought, and COVID-19, Coventry believes a broad range of the community could benefit from this initiative and are invited to participate.
"We encourage people suffering from post-traumatic stress and other mental health challenges to embrace the game of bowls, and, in doing so, find friendship and support from like-minded people," he said.
An official launch was held at Deniliquin RSL Bowls Club on Friday.
