The collaborative agreement was released on Wednesday night with community competitions for NSW winter sports to finish no later than October 11.
Community cricket is slated to conclude no later than April 5, 2021, which is the Easter weekend.
The agreement is non-legally binding, but is basically a gentlemen's agreement.
"We've already had discussions with Cricket Albury-Wodonga and the Wangaratta and District Cricket Association," Ovens and Murray Football Netball League general manager Sean Barrett said.
"CAW was keen to work with us as much as possible to get the football season going and if that meant going through to the end of October, they were happy with that and if we were able to finish earlier, that's fantastic."
The O and M, which boasts four NSW and six Victorian clubs, is aligned solely to AFL Victoria, while CAW is tied to both State bodies.
Cricket Victoria and AFL Victoria released its winter to summer transition framework late last month, noting:
- Home and away football for seniors and juniors to conclude on or before Sunday, September 27
- Finals for seniors to conclude on or before Sunday, October 18
It also stated cricket will have priority use no earlier than Friday, October 23.
Of the 10 O and M clubs, seven also host cricket on their home grounds with Albury, Yarrawonga and Corowa-Rutherglen cricket-free.
"There are other options for us as well, we can utilise those grounds for the last few weeks of finals," Barrett said.
The region's two biggest sports remain united in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We will not do anything until they (the football leagues) make their decision," CAW chairman Michael Erdeljac said.
"If they play, we think that's great.

"We (CAW) will do what's best for Albury-Wodonga and the surrounding districts."
The Victorian Government's COVID-19 announcements on June 22 will dictate whether the O and M season goes ahead.
