The Sunraysia board voted seven-three on Tuesday night for a July 25 start.
"It follows the decisions that were announced by the Victorian Government last weekend and we've also had correspondence with AFL Victoria and while nothing has been set in concrete (in terms of crowds being allowed), things are looking positive," chief executive officer Peter Walker said.

The Ovens and Murray is awaiting more COVID-19 announcements by the Victorian Government on Monday, before deciding whether it will start the season, but Sunraysia's decision only adds to speculation among football officials on both sides of the Border that health protocols will be relaxed, allowing at least some spectators to attend.

Sunraysia has a nine-team competition, with only one - Wentworth - based in NSW, while the O and M has four in NSW and six in Victoria.
Robinvale Euston won't contest the Sunraysia season.
