Although the 33-year-old has little knowledge of the competition, he is simply excited by the prospect of playing football.
"I wouldn't know a lot about it," Mackie said.
"I've tried to stay away from it at the moment until we get 100 per cent confirmation that we're in it, then I'll really start to look into it there.
"I think (Matt Rava) has coached at Wagga Tigers before, the boys are mainly Wagga-based boys and are super keen for it so I'll jump on their keenness and go for it."
Mackie has also left the door open to adding a couple of players to Osborne's list for the upcoming season.
"The way I'm reading it, the competitions up here may not go ahead at all. It might leave the door open for maybe one or two," he said.
The Hume league will meet on Wednesday night.
