Howlong plumber Brendan Dye has experienced first hand the anticipated traffic chaos caused by the Victorian-NSW border closure.
Traffic at times wound back into the heart of Wodonga near Woolworths, with many people stuck in traffic for close to two hours.
Eventually, officers stopped diverting every car via the Lincoln Causeway and allowed cars to travel on the Hume Highway to East Street.
"It took me about an hour and a half," he said.
