Wahgunyah and Corowa residents enjoyed the ability to cross John Foord Bridge to catch some sun by the river on Monday, but the privilege could be short lived.

Pedestrian access was granted from 8am to 5pm with police on duty to inspect permits, however, with stricter measures in place from midnight, the bridge may be off limits as it was when the border closure was introduced two weeks ago.
Brad Plum and daughter, Tia, live in Wahgunyah and would like to see the bridge open under police guard.

Tia works at the Corowa IGA store and Mr Plum has concerns if he's unable to pick her up after a shift.
"Somewhere along the line she will be relying on other people which is making them do unessential travel and you're potentially putting an extra person at risk," he said.
"The long terms effects on that are they're going to be less likely to hire people from our little community."
Mr Plum believes the border closure has created division between the two states.
