NQR is awaiting the final fit out of the store located in the old Autobarn building.
The Melbourne grocery discounter has hired around 15 border employees and offers everyday grocery items, with the exception of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat.
"We have a lot of big brand products just at a lot better prices," NQR regional manager Will Lockwood said.
However, Wodonga residents may have to wait longer to see the store with tougher border crossing restrictions coming into effect.

"Obviously there's a good customer base in Albury and Wodonga will get across eventually," Mr Lockwood said.
Owner of Lavington's Discount Grocery Warehouse Craig English said he plans to undercut NQR where the same products are stocked.
"We just hope local people keep supporting local businesses," he said.
Mr English added the Border closure will force Albury residents to shop north of the border.
